How to read a revision quote
Quotes from different surgeons can vary widely for the same patient. The variation usually reflects three things: what's actually included, the surgeon's experience level, and how the clinic structures complication coverage.
The most common mistake is comparing only the headline price. A €4,500 quote and a €7,500 quote may both be reasonable for the same patient — if the first quote excludes implants, hospital fees, accommodation, and post-op visits while the second includes them all. Compare totals, not headlines.
What's typically included in our quotes
For all revision procedures, the quoted price includes:
- Pre-operative consultation (in-person or video)
- All blood work and pre-op investigations
- Anaesthesiology fee (board-certified anaesthesiologist)
- JCI-accredited hospital fees
- Implants (when used) — premium brand, 10-year manufacturer warranty
- Operating room time
- Hospital stay (1 night standard for most revisions; 2 nights for complex cases)
- Surgical garments / surgical bra
- Medications during hospital stay
- Post-op medications for 7 days
- All in-person follow-ups during your Istanbul stay
- Video follow-ups for 12 months post-operatively
- Hotel accommodation (4-star, near clinic) for 7 nights
- Airport transfers
- VIP transfers between hotel, clinic, and hospital
General cost ranges by revision type
Specific quotes are individual. The following are ranges from comparable Istanbul clinics with similar credentials, hospital tier, and inclusions. Specific quotes for your case are provided after consultation.
| Procedure | Approximate range | Variability driver |
|---|---|---|
| Implant size change (same plane) | €4,500 – €6,500 | Implant brand, hospital tier |
| Implant size change (plane change) | €5,500 – €7,500 | Plane complexity, dissection time |
| Capsulectomy + implant replacement | €6,500 – €9,000 | Capsule extent, implant brand |
| Pocket repair (internal capsulorrhaphy) | €5,500 – €8,000 | Bilateral vs unilateral, complexity |
| Explant only | €4,000 – €6,000 | Concurrent capsulectomy |
| Explant + concurrent lift | €6,500 – €9,500 | Lift complexity, scar pattern |
| En bloc capsulectomy + replacement | €8,000 – €11,500 | Most demanding revision |
All prices are illustrative only and subject to individual quotation. Final price depends on your specific case, implant choices, and accommodation tier.
Why revision often costs more than primary surgery
Patients are sometimes surprised that revision is priced higher than their primary surgery was. Three factors explain the difference:
Operative time
Primary augmentation typically takes 1.5–2.5 hours. Revision typically takes 2.5–5 hours because dissection through scar tissue is slower and pocket modification adds time. Hospital and anaesthesia charges scale with operative time.
Surgeon experience required
Revision is technically more demanding. Surgeons who do high-volume revision typically charge more than surgeons who do mostly primary cases — and you generally want the higher-volume revision surgeon.
Higher complication rate
Revision has a slightly higher complication rate than primary surgery (5–8% vs 2–4% in major series). Clinic pricing accounts for the cost of complication management coverage.
Complication management — included or not?
This is the single most important question to ask any clinic about revision pricing. Our practice includes complication management for the first 6 months post-operatively in the original quote. This means:
- If you develop a hematoma requiring evacuation — included
- If you develop early capsular contracture requiring revision — included
- If a wound complication requires re-operation — included
- If you need extended hospital stay for any complication — included
Coverage is at the same JCI hospital, by the same surgeon, for the same procedure category. Travel and accommodation for return visits are not included after initial discharge.
Why we don't publish specific prices online
Two reasons:
- Quotes are individual. Two patients with the same headline diagnosis (e.g., "capsular contracture") may have very different surgical needs based on their specific anatomy and history.
- Pricing transparency benefits the wrong actors. Online price-shopping tends to drive patients toward the lowest quote — which is usually the lowest quote because it has fewer inclusions, less experienced surgeons, or shorter operating-room allocations. None of these are advantages.
